Blepharoplasty Surgery in Sydney

Blepharoplasty surgery involves removing excess eyelid skin.This kind of surgery is performed for both cosmetic reasons and in instances where a medical problem is affecting eyesight. Age can significantly contribute to the development of this excess eyelid skin.

The excess eyelid skin is found around the upper eyelids but the lower lids may also have excess skin. The skin can obstruct vision or appear unsightly, giving a tired or sad look to your appearance.

Medical problems associated with the sagging skin of eyelids potentially result in the obstruction of the visual field, dry eye syndrome or lower eyelid malposition.

Blepharoplasty surgery removes the skin and corrects the appearance giving you a fresh, brighter look!

Recovery period after blepharoplasty surgery

Blepharoplasty surgery is a relatively quick procedure, with the operation time being only 40 minutes. This ensures that the procedure will be day surgery, and you’ll be able to start recovering at home.

Blepharoplasty Surgery Recovery Period

Most patients will take 24 hours to fully recover from the effects of the anaesthesia used during surgery.

  • You can resume light activities during this time, however, it is recommended your have someone assist you at home for at least the day after surgery.

Full recovery from bruising and swelling usually takes about 1 week. Healing times can vary from individual to individual.

Guidelines for a safe, quick recovery include;

  • Use cold ice packs on the eyelids for up to 3 days
  • Refrain from strenuous activity for at least 1 week after surgery
  • Take medication such as simple pain relief and antibiotics
