Blepharoplasty surgery involves removing excess eyelid skin.

Often this is found around the upper eyelids but the lower lids may also have excess skin.

The skin can obstruct vision or appear unsightly, giving a tired or sad look to your appearance.

Blepharoplasty surgery removes the skin and corrects the appearance giving you a fresh, brighter look!

  • Operation time 40min
  • Day surgery

Recovery Period

Most patients will take 24 hours to fully recover from the effects of the anaesthesia used during surgery.

  • You can resume light activities during this time, however, it is recommended your have someone assist you at home for at least the day after surgery.

Full recovery from brusing and swelling usually takes about 1 week. Healing times can vary from individual to individual.

Guidelines for a safe, quick recovery include;

  • Use cold ice packs on the eyelids for up to 3 days
  • Refrain from strenuous activity for at least 1 week after surgery
  • Take medication such as simple pain relief and antibiotics
  • Avoid anti-inflamatory medications such as Nurofen

During this recovery period you can contact Dr Girardi’s office if you have any concerns. The first post-operative review is generally 1 week after surgery.
